As more and more of our lives are stored and spent online, it’s hugely important that we understand how to protect both our devices and our information from malicious elements online. Leaving your devices unprotected can result in anything as small as a slower computer (not so small if you’ve got a deadline coming up), right through to losing all the money in your bank account, to identity theft.

Just by taking a few of these simple steps you can improve your safety on the web and stop yourself from becoming a target online.

  • Don’t talk to strangers

  • When downloading files from a site, make sure the site you’ve downloaded is secure , safe and trusted.

  • Read before you click. Ex : before accepting terms and conditions, read it first.

  • When logging in , double check first the site where you log your email and password, it might be a copy of the site and made by a hacker.

  • Only add friends you know in real life, dont just add others just because their popular in your place or in school.

  • Double check first or check the info. Before replying or click links from suspicious email.

  • Have a 2 step code verification when logging in to become secure or safe from others.

  • Have your wifi in home private and add a password

  • Read or check out the private policy of a social networking site to learn to protect your account.

  • If going to a trip or vacation, never share it to others, they might rob your things when you are not present, these days not many people can be trusted.

  • Avoid logging in to public networks/Wi-Fi. Browsing in “incognito (or private) mode,” a feature of the browser, will not protect you from hackers.
  • Do not share your password with anyone.
